Body-Mind Acupressure I
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the theory and practice of acupressure in general and the 8 Extraordinary Meridians in particular. Students will participate in both theoretical study as well as practical hands-on application of learned techniques. This course also addresses the emotional underlying causes of illness from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective.
Acupressure is an ancient healing art which stimulates the body’s natural self-curative abilities. When trigger points are pressed, they release muscular tension, promote the circulation of blood, soothe the nervous system and stimulate the endocrine system, thus restoring balance to the whole person. Acupressure uses the same points and meridians as acupuncture, but instead of needles, uses gentle to firm pressure to achieve its health benefits. It specifically addresses the organs and emotions that may be out of balance.
